SWCSD named Matthew Jordan Assistant Superintendent of Personnel

SWCSD named Matthew Jordan Assistant Superintendent of Personnel

At the June 10 regular meeting of the South-Western City School District (SWCSD) Board of Education, district leadership approved the recommended hire of Mr. Matthew Jordan as the new Assistant Superintendent of Personnel. Jordan returns to SWCSD having previously served as an assistant principal at Franklin Heights High School (FHHS) and a social studies teacher and coach at Grove City High School (GCHS). He replaces Dr. Susan Hayward who retired from the position in December 2023.

"It is great to be back at South-Western City Schools," said Jordan. "SWCSD has been great to me and great to my family and I am very, very happy to be back and bring what I have learned to our district. When it comes to hiring, recruiting, and retaining exceptional classified, certificated, and administrative staff to the district, we are all in this together. I am incredibly humbled and ready to embrace this unbelievable opportunity to work collaboratively with our personnel department to support our district staff - past, present, and prospective staff - in facilitating the gift of public education for the vibrant communities we serve."

Prior to his return in the district, Jordan spent that last six years as an administrator with Upper Arlington Schools most recently serving as their Chief Talent Officer. In his new role, Jordan will oversee the district's Human Resources initiatives and is one of two assistant superintendents supporting students and staff (joining Dr. Brian Bowser, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum).

Jordan holds a Superintendent's License and M.A. in Educational Leadership from the Ohio State University, a M.A. in Teaching from Marygrove College, and a B.S. in Secondary Education from Bowling Green State University.
