Welcome!
Welcome to the South-Western City School District website. We hope this site provides you with the information you are seeking.

The South-Western City School District is proud of the educational opportunities offered to its students. Our focus is on improving academic achievement for all students. From our youngest learner to our most experienced staff member, we encourage lifelong learning as we provide challenging curriculum and programming to meet a wide range of educational needs.

The South-Western City School District is committed to excellence as we work in partnership with our community to meet the educational needs of a diverse population of learners.

We consider our school district, the fifth largest in the state, to be a learning community. The people who live here are family centered. They want an active say in the issues that affect their children and community. We invite their comments, involvement, and support because our goals are the same – a high-quality education for all our children.

We know that our staff is an integral part of the quality of the education we offer our students. That is why we put so much effort into selecting employees who, not only know their subject areas and jobs, really care about people. We know our hiring practices are paying off. Many residents and former students have told us so over the last few years in letters and cards they sent commending individual teachers, bus drivers, counselors, principals, nurses, and others.

South-Western is said to have one of the best staff development programs in the state, with hundreds of offerings available at convenient times. The District’s Professional Assistance Leader (PAL) program, an entry-year program for new teachers, provides mentors to professionals new to the district. The program is focused on issues relevant to first-year teachers.

Our 119-square-mile district offers the best of two worlds. We give small-town, small-classroom attention to students in each of our schools; yet we have big universities, an international airport, and a capital city’s hub just minutes away. There are also many cultural opportunities both within our district and in nearby Columbus and other suburbs.

Sincerely,

Dr. Bill Wise
Superintendent
